Fit Guru Gym & Physio Clinic Celebrates its 5th Year Anniversary

Fit Guru’s Ethos is ‘EVERY JOURNEY MUST BEGIN WITH A SINGLE STEP’.
When our journey started 5 years ago, we started out with much less equipment and just Joe & I for staff!

Over the years we have built it up & flourished into a fully equipped gym.
We may still be SMALL in comparison to other large commercial gyms BUT we are STRONG!
And hopefully our small independent nature reflects in the friendly, fun & welcoming service that we provide.
Over our relatively short time as gym & Physiotherapy Clinic owners we have learnt that…
PROGRESS IS IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT CHANGE…
Therefore we have always vowed that we keep up to date when it comes to New Training Kit, New Styles of Training, New Techniques, and New evidence based practice.
Joe & I have also acknowledged that building our Team is extremely important, Introducing Charlotte to the Team has really helped increase our female members. Charlotte provides excellent ladies small group training sessions on both Tuesday & Thursday evenings and Sunday Mornings.
Introducing Sophie to the Physiotherapy Team has allowed us to increase our client load, now running 2 Clinics alongside one another, and also freeing up time to carry out 1-2-1 Pilates Sessions and small group sessions in our new Rehabilitation Studio.
We are also really excited to be welcoming Nat to our Fit Guru Team. Nat will provide a Hypertrophy Class called ‘Flex Fit’ on Thursday’s at 7pm, isolating specific muscle groups and super-setting compound moves .. it’s sure to be a killer!
The quote ‘THE CAPACITY TO LEARN IS A GIFT, THE ABILITY TO LEARN IS A SKILL, THE WILLINGNESS TO LEARN IS A CHOICE’ and it has always rung true with both Joe & I, we try to live by this motto and hope that the Team we continue to build at Fit Guru follow this also.
With this in mind it has been great that this year Joe has been on a once a month training course, building on his existing knowledge, expanding his Nutrition knowledge and learning new training styles, which he has already successfully implemented into his Personal Training sessions.
Charlotte has successfully completed her University Degree in Sport & Exercise Science and is now working full time at the gym and proving to be an invaluable asset to the team. Charlotte is also due to qualify in Pre and Post Natal Exercise, and start ‘baby & Bumps’ specialist sessions at Fit Guru later in the year.
And I am due to attend a Myofascial Cupping Course, which is proving to become a popular treatment technique, as more people are becoming aware and educated about how constant foam rolling can create inflammation and soft tissue breakdown, therefore myofascial cupping is an effective but gentler method to eradicate muscular tension.
Fit Guru’s future plans are to enrol a qualified exercise referral practitioner, to help special populations that have been referred to them by their GP. This same practitioner will also be qualified to provide Nutrition and Lifestyle meetings for people that are particularly requiring education, advice, and support.
The Fit Guru Physiotherapy Team are hoping to implement more mobility and stretching regimes either on a 1-2-1 basis or in small groups. And further expand on their Pilates services that they currently provide.
Like I said at the start of this article and back when it all began 5 years ago! EVERY JOURNEY MUST BEGIN WITH A SINGLE STEP…
We have both thoroughly enjoyed the journey so far, we really appreciate the consistent support we have received from our friendly members and our family and friends, and we look forward to developing and building Fit Guru further.
